FBI detectives probe into assassination attempt on Prime Minister Hamdok
(Thessherald)–A high-level FBI investigation team has arrived in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, in an effort to conduct a high-level investigation into an alleged terrorist assassination attempt on Sudanese Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok.
According to the Sudanese Ministry of Interior, the FBI’s mission is to assist in the investigation of the recent assassination plot of the Sudanese and bring the perpetrators to account.
“A three-member security team of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will arrive in Khartoum on Wednesday, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior,” said the Interior Ministry in a statement.
On Tuesday, the Sudanese government announced that it would award a substantial amount of money to anyone who would reveal the identity of those behind the assassination plot against the country’s leader.
A day after the assassination plot, the Sudanese governing announced that plans were under way to eliminate the conspirators associated with Bashir’s authoritarian leadership and put them under the control of the civilian government.
The government established a security committee and charged them with the dismantling the former regime that had ruled the country for over 30 years.
