US expresses its condolences on the death of S. Sudan’s journalist Edward Lado
May 22, 2020 (Thessherald)–The United States has extended its sincere condolences over the death of South Sudanese journalist Edward Lado Terso, a renowned media practitioner who passed away in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum on Friday.
“The U. S. Embassy be in Juba learned with deep sorrow of the passing on of the Secretary General of the Union of Journalists of South Sudan (UJOSS), Edward Lado Terso in Khartoum today.”
The U.S. Embassy praised Edward for his dedication and commitment to promoting an independent press in South Sudan.
“Edward Terso is fondly remembered for his dedication to fostering a free and independent press in South Sudan; but also for standing up for journalists who found themselves in difficult circumstances as they practiced their profession.”
“May his long contribution to journalism be an inspiration to many budding in this country.”
He was a former news reporter for the English-language daily Khartoum Monitor in 2003.
He was also Secretary General of the Union of Journalists of South Sudan (UJOSS)
In 2016, Edward proudly received an international award in recognition of his outstanding achievement in defending the rights of journalists freedom of expression the country.
The award was presented by the International Christian Organization of the Media (ICOM).
