July 19, 2020 (Thessherald)–South Sudan’s Vice President, Dr. James Wani Igga, has kneeled on his knees, pleading with feuding communities in Jonglei State to end inter-tribal violence that has caused unimaginable suffering to the population.

Last month, President Salva Kiir issued a Republican order, establishing a 13-member High-Level Committee with a mandate to address the ongoing intercommunal violence in Jonglei state and Pibor Administrative Area respectively.

The Committee was headed by James Wani Igga, Vice-President of the Republic of South Sudan, deputized by Daniel Awet Akot, former presidential adviser on military affairs.

The President asked the committee to ensure the provision of relief and food aid to the affected communities.
