August 25, 2020 (Thessherald)–Former Minister of Petroleum, Hon. Dak Duop Bichiok has invited elders and members of the Gajaak communities for a formal luncheon in his residential area, in the capital, Juba.
Speaking at the event, Dak called for harmony, emphasising that peace and unity are of the utmost importance in the community and the country as a whole.
He also stressed the need to give priority to the implementation of the peace agreement, underscoring that it’s the only way to restore peaceful coexistence in the country.
The event brought together former prominent government officials, former members of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly, as well as invited guests from other communities.
Hon. Dak joined the government in April after falling out with Dr. Riek Machar, now the First Vice-President of South Sudan, accusing him of mishandling the internal affairs of the SPLM-IO.
Since he left the opposition, he has put in extra effort to reconcile members of the Gajak communities who have been involved in inter-communal violence since last year.
