Nov. 8, 2020 (Thessherald)–The Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, has sacked the intelligence chief, federal police commissioner and army chief as the nation teetering on the brink of civil war.

No reason was given for the changes, which came several days after he ordered a military campaign in the Tigray region.

Since last week, the Ethiopian National Defense Forces and the Tigrayan Liberation Front have been engaged in heavy fighting for control of the northern Tigray region.

Since then, the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres has called on the warring parties to exercise maximum restraint and address their differences at the negotiating table.
