Dec 26, 2020 (Thessherald)–South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit joined thousands of young people during today’s Christmas celebration organized at Dr. Garang Museum in the capital, Juba.
“H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit joins thousands of youth and children in the celebration of Christmas during a peace concert held at Dr. John Garang Museleoum under the theme, together for peace and unity,” the Office of the President said in a statement.
Kiir pointed out that he wanted to see with his own eyes how young people would celebrate this joyful Christmas.
“President Salva Kiir Mayardit said, he decided to come out to see how the youth and children are celebrating the Christmas and to also extend his best wishes of Merry Christmas to them.”
President Kiir calls on IDPs to come out from UNMISS camps across the country and return to their homes, saying peace had already come to South Sudan.
“H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit described the event as a symbol of peace, togetherness and unity of the citizens and urged the youth to shun away from any form of tribalism. In addition, H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit called upon those that are still in UNMISS and POCs to come out and return to their residential areas noting that, peace has come and the Country will not return back to war again.”
