South Sudan’s former Ambassador to Russia, Telar Ring Deng, has died days after contracting the Coronavirus, his family announced this afternoon.
Ring was South Sudan’s ambassador to Russia, before he tendered his resignation in 2018 under unclear circumstances.
He was appointed head of mission in Russia in 2014 after the South Sudan National Legislative Assembly rejected his first appointment, as minister for justice.
He’s also among the top SPLM-IO officials who returned to the country under the peace agreement signed in September 2018.
According to his family, Ring passed away today at Dr. John Garang Infectious Disease Unit in the capital, Juba, while receiving treatment.
