
This morning, South Sudan awoke again to the shocking news of the death of its famous academician, Professor Samson Wassara, who has passed away in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum after undergoing a spine surgery (spondylosyndesis).
Who is Dr Samson Wassara?
Professor Samson Samuel Wassara (PhD University of Paris Xi France, 1994) — is one of the African leading political economists and specialist on hydro-politics.
Samson was a Professor of Political Science in the Department of Political Science at the University of Juba and had been the Vice-Chancellor of the Bahr el-Ghazal University in Wau since 2014.

According to his biography, Wassara held various academic positions at University of Juba and was twice Dean, College of Social and Economic Studies.
He was known for teaching political science and international relations subjects, as well as peace studies. His research interests include conflict societies, security sector, hydro-politics, state building and governance.
Prof. Wassara has widely published on Africa, Sudan and South Sudan.
