Akol suspends his Deputy for sowing division among NDM members
The Chairman of the National Democratic Movement, Dr. Lam Akol has suspended his Deputy, Cle Thompson Thon Teny, accusing him of inciting and sowing seeds of division among members of the National Democratic Movement (NDM).
Akol said he spared no effort to persuade Thompson not to indulge in divisive activities, but he refused to comply with the policies.
“Since July last year you have been engaged in destructive activities directed towards causing a split within the Movement. Many efforts have been made to dissuade you from such activities including through telephone conversations between the two of us and meetings of the members of the National Executive Committee in Juba under your chairmanship,” said Dr. Lam Akol in a suspension letter.
“Despite all these attempts you continued to sow discord among members of the Movement. Today, you went to a reputable newspaper in Juba in which you wanted the paper to publish your ill-advised moves against the NDM, thus bringing to the open internal matters of the Movement. All these activities are a flagrant breach of Article 46 sub-sections (2), (4), (7), (8), (9), (10) and (12) of the Basic Rules.”
“On the basis of the above and in exercise of the powers vested in me under Article 20 (4) of the Basic Rules of the National Democratic Movement 2016, you are hereby suspended from all your duties in the NDM until an investigation committee is formed in accordance with Article 20 (5) of the Basic Rules to look into these charges.”
