A South Sudanese businesswoman and philanthropist, Achai Wiir, has vehemently denied bailing out South Sudan after defaulting on UN membership fees totaling 22,804 dollars.

In response to the allegations on social media, Achai Wiir said that she does not support anyone or any political party in the country and has nothing to do with South Sudan’s politics.

As you all know, I don’t associate with politics or in any manner and I will stand with it,” said Achai Wiir, a businesswoman and philanthropist.

Last year, the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres announced that nine African countries, including South Sudan, had lost their voting rights as required under the UN Charter after defaulting on membership fees contributed annually as UN’s operating budget.

Last week, the South Sudanese government confirmed, in a statement that, it had regained the right to vote as a member of the United Nations after paying its dues.

“The Ministry of finance has cleared the outstanding contributions and fees for the UN,” said Deng Dau, a South Sudanese official. “So, South Sudan has the right place in the international community.”

The United Nations has an annual operating budget of $3.2 billion, and every member state has an obligation to pay their annual contributions in order to maintain their membership.

October 30, 2020 (Thessherald)–Achai Wiir, a prominent South Sudanese businesswoman and philanthropist, has donated four three-wheeled motorcycles for people with disabilities in the capital, Juba.

Achai, who recently formed a charity organization, is known for dedicating her time and energy to caring for the most disadvantaged and vulnerable groups in society in order to improve their living standards.

“Today, I simultaneously handed-over four (4) three-wheeled motorbikes to persons with disabilities at De Space Lounge and Restaurant in Juba. The handover was witnessed by a number of government officials and a few onlookers,” she noted.

“Today, I marked one month of donating wheelchairs to vulnerable South Sudanese persons with disabilities. Thanks to everyone who stood with me. Your positive comments encouraged me to continue with this initiative that I had undertaken for the love of my country,” she added.

On Tuesday, Mrs. Achai attracted public attention after lending a helping hand to a disabled person who always sells insignificant items along Ministries road, next to Dr. John Garang Mausoleum.

“As I continue with my initiative and that of the Foundation to support the most disadvantaged and disabled people of this great nation, my team and I today, donated a trike to a vulnerable man along Ministries road, next to Dr. John Garang Mausoleum.”

“As you can see, the disabled man is beating the odds by transacting his small profit-making business next to the road. He’s a true example of “disability is not inability”. I was touched and I offered to him funds to expand his business.”

“Minutes later as I was interacting with the disabled man, I was joined by my uncle who’s also the Minister of East Africa Parliamentary Affairs, Honorable Deng Alor. He spotted us as he was driving to his office and stopped-by to extend his helping hand to us.”

October 27, 2020 (Thessherald)–A prominent businesswoman and philanthropist, Achai Wiir, has announced the formation of a new humanitarian agency that will meet the needs of people with disabilities, victims of armed conflict and flood-stricken communities.

“This is a humanitarian and Peace-building agency looking at aiding people who are suffering, including, victims of armed conflict, famine, flooding, orphans, extremely sick persons lacking financial support and organising inter-communal peace initiatives to unite the youth and elders,” Achai announced on social media on Monday.

Achai explained that their new office will be located at the International Commercial Bank building, and it is expected to expand its branches across the country soon.

“We are fully registered under Non-governmental Organisations, The NGO ACT 2016. Our head office is located at International Commercial Bank building, along Airport road with branches in other states expected to open soon to extend our support at state-level.”

Meanwhile, she donated a three-wheeled motorcycle to a disabled person as part of her ambitious plan to support people with disabilities.

“Today through the Foundation, I donated a Trike to support a disabled man’s movement living in Gudele 2. The trike will help him commute over the long-distanced Gudele 2 – Juba town route on a daily basis.”

“I decided to replace the wheelchairs with trikes because I learned that most of the physically disabled people around Juba have difficulties in rolling their wheelchairs. It’s so tiresome and cumbersome to deal with everyday.
The three-wheeled motorcycles (trikes) provide more comfort over the wheelchairs by giving extra stability that means the disabled will use way less physical strength to control and navigate.”

As the project formally began on Monday, CEO Achai, said that more trikes will soon be distributed to anyone with disabilities as long as they meet illegibility criteria.

“The foundation has stationed more trikes in the warehouse that are scheduled to be distributed from tomorrow onward to eligible persons with disabilities within Juba and its outskirts.”
