Joseph Lagu’s wife, Amna Lagu dies after COVID-19 complications

The wife of a South Sudanese veteran politician and freedom fighter, Amna Lagu, has died in the United Kingdom after a long battle with COVID-19 since December last year.

“The family of Lt. General Joseph Lagu with a very heavy heart announces the passing of their beloved mother Mrs Amna Lagu this afternoon in London from Covid-19 complications.”

The family appreciates the relatives and friends who have stood firm in their support since she was diagnosed with the virus.

“We thank all relatives, friends and the entire Sudanese and South Sudanese community for their prayers throughout the time Mama Amna was in hospital. The family will inform of plans in the next few days. We are very grateful for your continued support. Please allow the family some privacy at this difficult time,” the family announced on Sunday.

Since last year, Lieutenant-General Joseph Lagu and his wife, Amna Lagu, have been receiving treatment in a hospital in the United Kingdom after both tested positive for the Coronavirus.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus.
