NAS under Khalid Butrus congratulates President Kiir on appointment of Abdelbagi
Hussein Abdelbagi Akol is a senior member of the South Sudan Patriotic Movement (SSPM), an opposition faction that’s part of the R-ARCSS.
(Thessherald)–The National Salvation Front, a member of the coalition group led by Khalid Butrus Bora – sends its congratulatory message, welcoming and backing the recent appointment of Hussein Abdelbagi to the position of Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan.
“The entire leadership of the National Salvation Front (NAS) congratulates President of the Republic of South Sudan H.E General Salva Kirr Mayardit on the appointment of H.E Hussein Abdelbagi Akol as Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan on the ticket of South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA),” the NAS leadership said in a statement extended to the South Sudan Herald.
The National Salvation Front lauded President Kiir’s decision and praised Hussein Abdelbagi for being an ideal leader who deserves such a high-level position in the unity government.
“The NAS leadership contented with the President’s patriotic decision of appointing H.E. Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, one of the outstanding leaders of SSOA. On the same note NAS leadership congratulate H.E. Hussein Abdelbagi Akol on winning the trust of SSOA. We trust your ability to work closely with the President to promote sustainable peace and deliver services to the People of Republic of South Sudan.
Hussein Abdelbagi was picked on Sunday by the President after the opposition parties failed to select one representative from among the five contesting candidates nominated by all SSOA factions.
However, his appointment was rejected by the National Democratic Movement headed by prominent opposition leader Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin, citing that the appointment was not in line with the provisions of the peace agreement.
