(Thessherald)–Members of the Jieng Council of Elders urge President Salva Kiir Mayardit not to accept and welcome the four commanders who pledged allegiance to the SSPDF on Tuesday.
“We are tired of political violence and chaos. We strongly condemn what is happening in the SPLM IO. These moves should be rejected, as well, by the SPLM without hesitation,” said Aldo Ajou Deng, a senior politician and a member of the Jieng Council of Elders.
He stated that, “Those defecting from their parties to join the SPLM, at this stage of national reconciliation, healing and forgiveness should think twice how they should promote this peace deal for now. Our commitment is to R-ARCSS which our leaders have signed with commitment, on 12 September 2018.”
“The cabinet is fixed to accommodate inclusivity in accordance with the R-ARCSS. The SPLM and affiliated parties hold their disciplinary commitments, by supporting their leader, Chairman Salva Kiir Mayardit.
But SPLM IO, is in a political and clannish turmoil. The press-media, locally in South Sudan and international social media posed a threat to political security within and for the country as whole.”
He pointed out that there’s no need for military leaders to continue to pledge allegiance from one party to another while the coalition government has already been formed.
“I think we do not need defections from one party to another party within the R-TGoNU. Such behavior could be dangerous to SPLM IO and politically infectious to the intended reconciliation and forgiveness among the leaders and nationalities/communities at large.
The group urged the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-IO (SPLM-IO) settle it’s internal affairs.
“The SPLM IO must put her house in order. Also the SPLM, SPLM IO and SSOA, should address jointly, these vulgar defections from one party to another,” he added.”
