South Sudan’s delegation and holdout groups have signed Declaration of Principles in Naivasha, Kenya.
In a statement issued this evening, the Parties renewed their commitment to ending hostilities and embracing peace for the sake of suffering people in the country.
They also agreed to investigate and find the root causes of the conflict and achieve lasting peace in South Sudan.
For his part, government negotiator Barnaba Marial Benjamin stressed the importance of peaceful dialogue and said that the signing of the Declaration of Principles is a big step towards achieving peace and stability.
Real SPLM leader, Pagan Amum praised the breakthrough made by the parties and said these steps will definitely lead to lasting peace in the country.
Paul Malong Awan, Chairman of the South Sudan United Front underscored
that what is important now is for leaders to learn to put the people’s interests above all considerations.
