July 26, 2020 (Thessherald)–A Juba-based road construction company, Africa Resource Corporation-ARC has blown its own trumpet after surpassing government-hired foreign construction companies recently criticized for their poor workmanship.
In a social media post obtained by The South Sudan Herald, ARC hailed its workers for going the extra mile to ensure that the ongoing construction work is not disrupted by heavy rains as has always been the case in the past.
“The rain has stopped and the Juba Bor Highway is still holding strong as expected,” the company said in a brief statement.
ARC urged citizens to have faith in their own national companies. “Trust your National Construction company ARC to deliver quality,” it added.
On July 8, 2020, Africa Resource Corporation-ARC started laying the first layer of asphalt on top of several other layers of foundation on the Juba-Bor Highway, marking its first construction work.
In recent months, a Chinese construction company, Shandong Hi-Speed Group, has been suspended due to poor construction of a highway linking Juba and Rumbek after heavy rains swept away some parts of the road.
The construction deal between the office of the president and the Shandong High Speed Group resulted in the dismissal of former Presidential Affairs Minister Mayiik Ayii, due to what the government termed as ‘lack of supervision.’
