(Thessherald)–South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir and the Deputy Chairman of the Sudan Sovereign Council, Mohamad Hamadan met on Monday and discussed a wide range of issues, including stalled progress in the allocation of ministerial positions, among other important matters.
“H.E, President Salva Kiir Mayardit met with the Deputy Chairman of Sudan Sovereign Council Gen. Mohamad Hamadan Hemeti at the State House on Monday. They discussed the progress on the process of the complete formation of the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity,” said the Presidency.
Since last month, South Sudan’s government and opposition parties have been holding a series of discussions on the selection of cabinet ministers and states’ governors.
According to the Presidency, “Gen. Hemeti applauded President Salva Kiir for the milestone he has taken towards the implementation of the peace deal.”
The Sudanese leader called on both parties to expedite the process and make concessions on selection of ministerial portfolios.
“General Hemeti urged the parties to make compromises on the agreement on the division of the ministerial positions to pave way for the complete formation of the unity government.”
